The rumor gained traction after users noted similarities between ChatGPT’s voice and Johansson’s distinctive tone. Some even speculated that OpenAI may have used audio samples of Johansson’s voice to train its AI model, leading to concerns about potential copyright infringement and privacy issues.

However, according to the report, which cites sources familiar with the development of ChatGPT, OpenAI did not use Johansson’s voice or any audio samples of her voice in the training process. Instead, the AI language model was trained on a diverse dataset of text from various sources, allowing it to generate human-like responses without relying on specific voices or individuals.

“OpenAI’s ChatGPT was not modeled after Scarlett Johansson’s voice,” said a spokesperson for OpenAI. “Our AI language model is trained on text data from a wide range of sources, enabling it to understand and generate natural language responses across different contexts and topics.”

The report’s findings provide clarity amid the speculation surrounding ChatGPT’s voice and underline OpenAI’s commitment to ethical practices and responsible AI development. By training its AI models on diverse datasets, OpenAI aims to create AI systems that are unbiased, inclusive, and respectful of privacy rights.

“While it’s natural for users to draw comparisons between ChatGPT’s voice and familiar voices like Scarlett Johansson’s, it’s important to understand that our AI model’s capabilities are derived from text data, not specific audio samples,” added the OpenAI spokesperson. “We remain committed to advancing AI technology in a responsible and transparent manner.”

As OpenAI continues to refine its AI language models and develop new applications for AI technology, the report’s findings serve as a reminder of the importance of accurate information and responsible speculation in discussions about AI development and its implications for society.
