Virgin Galactic (SPCE.N) achieved a major milestone in space tourism on Saturday by successfully flying four tourists to the edge of space and back aboard its spaceplane. This mission, named Galactic 07, marks the second flight of the year for the Richard Branson-founded company.
The Galactic 07 mission carried passengers from Turkey, the United States, and Italy to an altitude of approximately 55 miles (88.51 kilometers). The flight lasted just over an hour, offering the tourists an unparalleled experience of weightlessness and breathtaking views of Earth from the edge of space.
The mission took off from and returned to Spaceport America in New Mexico, the company announced. This flight is particularly significant as it is the final commercial flight of Virgin Galactic’s VSS Unity spaceplane.

In a statement, Virgin Galactic said, “This flight marks the end of an era for the VSS Unity as we transition to our next-generation spaceships. These new spacecraft are expected to enter commercial service in 2026, bringing enhanced capabilities and improved experiences for our customers.”
The successful completion of the Galactic 07 mission underscores Virgin Galactic’s commitment to making space travel accessible and its continued leadership in the burgeoning space tourism industry. The company’s next-generation spaceships are anticipated to further revolutionize the sector, offering more frequent and efficient flights for space tourists.
Michael Colglazier, CEO of Virgin Galactic, expressed his enthusiasm for the future, stating, “We are thrilled to be at the forefront of this industry, making space accessible not just to astronauts, but to everyday dreamers who aspire to see our planet from a new perspective.”

As Virgin Galactic looks forward to the introduction of its fourth-generation spaceships, the achievements of the VSS Unity pave the way for a new era in commercial space travel. The company remains at the forefront of expanding human access to space, inspiring a global audience, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space exploration.
With more flights planned in the near future, Virgin Galactic’s success continues to inspire and open the doors to space for more people than ever before.
