TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has vehemently denied allegations that it poses a threat to national security and argues that the executive orders are unconstitutional. The company’s lawsuit, filed in a federal court, accuses the US government of depriving TikTok of due process and violating its rights under the Fifth Amendment.

“The executive orders issued against TikTok are not rooted in legitimate national security concerns but are instead driven by political motivations,” said Vanessa Pappas, Interim Head of TikTok. “We have no choice but to challenge these unjust actions through the legal system to protect the rights of our community and ensure that TikTok can continue to provide a platform for creativity and connection.”

TikTok has become a cultural phenomenon, particularly among younger generations, with millions of users in the United States alone.
